Terms of Service
Effective date: [EFFECTIVE DATE]
These Terms of Service ("Terms") are an agreement between you and [OPERATOR LEGAL NAME] ("Life Skills School," "we," "us") governing your use of our website and learning program (the "Service"). By creating an account or using the Service, you agree to these Terms and to our Privacy Policy. If you do not agree, do not use the Service.
1. Who can use the Service
You must be 18 or older and the parent or legal guardian of any child who uses the Service through your account. You are responsible for your child's use, for supervising it, and for everything that happens under your account. The Service is a tool for your family's personal, non-commercial use.
2. The Service
Life Skills School provides educational lessons, projects, and reinforcement activities. We may add, change, remove, or update content and features over time. Some lessons link to third-party videos and resources that we do not control and that are subject to their own terms.
3. Your account
Provide accurate information, keep your login credentials secure, and let us know promptly of any unauthorized use. You are responsible for activity under your account. One account is intended per family.
4. Acceptable use
You agree not to: share, resell, sublicense, or commercially exploit the Service or its content; copy, scrape, or redistribute the curriculum or answer keys publicly; reverse engineer or attempt to disrupt the Service; or use it unlawfully. You may print or save lesson materials for your own family's use.
5. Intellectual property
The curriculum, text, design, and software are owned by [OPERATOR LEGAL NAME] or its licensors and are protected by law. We grant you a limited, personal, non-transferable license to use them for your family's learning while your account is in good standing. Third-party content (such as linked videos) remains the property of its owners.
6. Free beta and changes
The Service is currently offered free of charge during a beta period. We may change what is included, and we may end the beta, but families who sign up during the free beta keep their free access after any paywall begins, as described in Section 7. Free access is provided "as is" with no guarantee of uninterrupted availability.
7. Subscriptions and billing (applies only if and when paid plans launch)
- Membership. Paid access is a family membership that unlocks the library of courses. Pricing, billing intervals, and any per-child add-on will be shown clearly at checkout before you pay. (Pricing is being finalized; current intent: an annual plan with a monthly option, base price [TBD], add-on per additional child up to a 4-child cap.)
- No free trial; clear recurring terms. Because there is no trial, checkout states the amount, interval, and renewal date, and we capture your affirmative consent before any charge. A confirmation email restates the terms and how to cancel.
- Auto-renewal and cancellation. Paid plans renew automatically until you cancel. You can cancel at any time through the billing portal, as easily as you signed up. On cancellation, access continues to the end of the paid period, then locks, while your data is retained per the Privacy Policy.
- Refunds. [Recommended default: a 14-day money-back window on a fresh charge. Confirm and finalize.]
- Price-lock. Your signup price is honored for your family; price changes apply to new signups only.
- Taxes and region. Paid plans are offered in the US and Canada, priced in USD, with applicable sales tax/GST/HST added at checkout.
- Payments. Card payments are processed by Stripe; we do not store full card numbers.
8. Educational purpose; no professional advice
The Service is for general education. It is not professional financial, legal, medical, or psychological advice, and topics like money, taxes, online safety, and AI are taught as age-appropriate fundamentals, not individualized guidance. Always use your own judgment as the parent, especially for cooking, experiments, and any online activity.
9. Disclaimers
The Service is provided "as is" and "as available," without warranties of any kind, express or implied, to the fullest extent permitted by law. We do not guarantee particular learning outcomes.
10. Limitation of liability
To the fullest extent permitted by law, [OPERATOR LEGAL NAME] will not be liable for any indirect, incidental, special, consequential, or punitive damages, or for any loss arising from your use of the Service. Our total liability for any claim relating to the Service will not exceed the greater of the amount you paid us in the 12 months before the claim or USD 50.
11. Indemnification
You agree to indemnify and hold [OPERATOR LEGAL NAME] harmless from claims arising out of your misuse of the Service or violation of these Terms.
12. Termination
You may stop using the Service and delete your account at any time. We may suspend or terminate access for violations of these Terms or to protect the Service or its users.
13. Governing law and disputes
These Terms are governed by the laws of [STATE/PROVINCE], without regard to conflict-of- laws rules. [Specify venue and whether disputes are resolved by arbitration; have counsel confirm.]
14. Changes to these Terms
We may update these Terms. If changes are material, we will update the effective date and, where appropriate, notify you. Continued use after an update means you accept the revised Terms.
